Diesel Gas Conversion

Have you every thought of running gas on your Diesel engine. The way it works is--Gas is injected into the inlet manifold and mixes with the diesel. This gives about 20% more power and torque. Because of this extra power you do not need to put your foot down as hard on throttle, therefore your get greater fuel economy, test have shown about 20% better economy. Greater power is achieved because diesel mixed with LPG burns the diesel more completely. Most diesels only burn about 75% of the diesel injected into the cylinder the rest burns in the exhaust (result in in black smoke) or mixes with the oil, which will then evaporate as the oil gets hot. With the mixture of Diesel and LPG the burn rate is about 95% therefore more power and greatly reduced black smoke. LPG is used at a rate of about 4 litres / 100 Km. There are no modifications needed to the engine so if the LPG runs out the engine runs on diesel as it would normally but with less power than it would with the LPG. The LPG doesn't work at idle so a smooth idle is retained. Because of the simplicity of the system the setup can be changed from one vehicle to another as you update without the outlay of a new system each time. The system is computer controlled and is calibrated to your driving conditions eg towing. via a laptop computer. This is done by the installers and can be varied as required. Eg. You are no longer towing so the system can be calibrated for normal driving conditions. You need a gas tank about 1/3rd of the size of your diesel tank. This can be achieved by removing the auxiliary tank and fitting the gas tank in its place. This setup is becoming more popular as the price of diesel increases. You are also able to get the $2000 LPG conversion rebate for private vehicles from the Government so the price of fitment is even more affordable.
I have been told that an average setup will cost around $3800 less the $2000 government rebate. There seems to be more companies doing the conversion now so if you Google "DieselGas" a number of different options will come up for you.
